I live with a drummer….

…and yet I have no rhythm.  I’ve never had any rhythm, I’ve played piano for years, I even taught, and yet I am lacking the one most basic principal in music, rhythm.  My parrot, Basil, has more rhythm than I.  He can dance and whistle and click his beak to the beat of any song.  I am fortunate if I can count to 4 evenly.  Why this is important, I have no idea.  Its just something I find amusing.

Emma's Doll Nearing Completion

I actually had quite a few different titles to this post in thought, but do you know how funny some titles are, but yet would open up your site to all sorts of unwelcome attention.  Mostly because of this doll I’m knitting.  I have her nearly all knit, just a foot, bellybutton and nose to knit.  Then of course her clothing, which is why had I described and titled this post what I wanted, would have opened the doors to wide by search mechanisms.

The Forest Path Stole is also coming along fairly nicely.  I’m on Tier 15 of 23.  Knitting time is lessening as the weather becomes nicer and unfortunately work has gotten in the way.  We have several impending deadlines of doom which calls for extra work, although it is nice for the paycheck. Today in fact I’m sitting at my laptop, watching Jane Austen, and reviewing documents for work.  At least I can do it at home and not actually have to go into the office, which is a big plus. The weather is gorgeous, and I may even take my laptop outside for a bit.

Tomorrow we plan on a nice bike ride. I wish we could go today, but Nick has planned a lot of yard work, and I’m tied to the computer and I don’t think the computer would fit on the bicycle.  I’m excited, I actually ordered real biking clothing!  I can finally fit into them.  I know this seems silly, but last year I couldn’t fit in bike clothing and this year I’ll fit and shrink out of it as well.  Now if it would only get here.  I’m mostly excited about the shirts, as I hate constantly having to pull my shirt down in the back.  Bike shirts are longer in the back to cover one’s hind quarters.

I also have to do our taxes this weekend.  Since I discovered I owed a month or so ago, I’ve been putting it off.  But alas, I’m to the point I can not

Crazy Django

put it off any longer.  I shall pay my pound of flesh and kidney, and move on with life.

Very, very cool that you can fit into biking clothing and will probably have to go down a size by the end of the season! *sigh* I need to get my act together while I can still nearly squish into my biking stuff…

  2. Sydney says:

It is so cool that you have done so well losing weight and getting in shape. I need to get back on the ball. I got out of my exercise routine.

I’m afraid taxes are my life this weekend too.

  3. Jeanne says:

Cute doll – are you knitting the clothes?

Have fun on your ride today!

  4. Mr Puffy says:

Yes, I see what you mean about the N*ked doll – LOL

I also see inappropriate touching going on with a little furry nose.

Taxes. Bummer – you have my sympathy.

  5. Robin says:

Looks like you also paid with a leg! I hate taxes! I’m contemplating buying a bike. Wish I someone to bike with. If I did, buying one would be an easy decision. There are so many nice bike trails nearby.

  6. Sarah Katie says:

Is that an Abner snout I see with the doll?

  7. Lorraine says:

Rebekah- My son is a drummer- go figure, I have no sense of rhythm.

But we have other talents. The doll is adorable.

  8. Cat says:

How exciting the doll is almost finished! I love all the toys in this book, and the doll clothes being separate little patterns are probably my favorite part. I just like playing dolls tho – so that’s probably it. Never grew out of it, I guess. Neat you’ll have bike clothes to wear this year. I sent my pattern for bike shorts home with my sister. She and her hubby ride a tandem bike a lot together, and she sews and has a new serger, so now she may actually get to make some one of these days.

Remember your knitted doll “Big Dolly” maybe she’s the reason you became so passionate about knitting.

I have no rhythm either. I never progressed past a certain point in my piano lessons because Mrs. Birdsell was a counting Nazi, and once we got past 4/4 time and 3/4 time I was totally lost. That’s probably why I can’t dance.
