My Office is Taking Labor Day Weekend Way To Literal

The $400 DoilyYep, its Saturday, the Saturday I was so looking forward to being at home with the pups not doing anything but watching some good period movies or mini-series, maybe some Stargate, maybe a Midsomer Murder, and knitting to my hearts content and instead I’m sitting in my office reviewing spreadsheets.  In case you are wondering I’ll be here tomorrow too, and probably Labor Day as well.  They are really taking this “Labor” day in much to literal of a sense.  Oh well, we are planning a week’s vacation in early October, so I’ll rest and recoop then I suppose and in the meantime have a little extra cash in the bank account, so its not all bad.

My co-worker had his baby on the 2nd, baby is nice size and healthy which I am sure is much relief to the parents.  His poor wife was literally in labor for over 3 weeks.  Apparently its not normal but not uncommon either.  They finally induced when she was a week from her due date and everything turned out lovely.  Of course the Tamarix Quilt isn’t done yet, had she been born near her due date and had I not had to work so much overtime in the last few weeks it would have been done in time.  I have 14 squares left to knit.

I’m still debating my next path of knitting, finish Elizabeth, start a vest, start a doily, make a hat, and I feel compelled to knit mittens too.  I guess I’ll decide when Tamarix is done and the Shetland Faroese Shawl is blocked which was suppose to occur this weekend, but of course now that i’m laboring will not happen.

There really are too many patterns and just not enough time to knit them all.

I’m impelled to knit a hat, mittens, and a scarf. I need some chunky yarn for this though. I feel like chunky funky stuff for some odd reason.

I’m working on my vest. Although I’m not actually making the pattern that came with it now. I’m using a variation of a vest pattern from a Vogue Knitting mag, and I’m kind of making up the sizing as I go. I guess I will have to wait and see how things turn out. I’m hoping okay, because I don’t have to make sleeves, so I don’t really have to worry about messing that up.

I was feeling sorry for myself, just because I’m going to have to work for a few hours on Monday. Don’t work too hard!

Bummer about having to work all weekend. My boss is a stick in the mud too and I’ve been working, though not quite as full of days.

Glad to hear all is well the coworker’s baby!

Working on weekends sucks. It also sucks when a spouse has to work and you’re stuck at home with the kids … oh I’m projecting. Whoops! LOL Congrats to your coworker. 🙂

Bummer. This is the first long weekend I haven’t had to work in a long time. AND we got half of Friday off. I seriously didn’t know what to do with myself! So, sorry you had to work, but hurray for the extra $$$ to spend during your vacation or save for a rainy day!
